SLA Material Properties — Formlabs Resins

Detailed mechanical and thermal properties for all SLA resins available at PartSnap. Use this data to select the right material for your application.

All properties below are post-cured per Formlabs recommendations. Values are typical and may vary based on part geometry, orientation, and layer height.

Standard Resins (In Stock)

Grey, Black & White Resin (General Purpose)

Our default SLA materials. Excellent surface finish, good all-around mechanical properties. Ideal for visual prototypes, form checks, and presentation models.

Property Green Post-Cured Test Method
Ultimate Tensile Strength 46 MPa (6,672 psi) 62 MPa (8,992 psi) ASTM D638
Tensile Modulus 2,200 MPa (319 ksi) 2,675 MPa (388 ksi) ASTM D638
Elongation at Break 22% 13% ASTM D638
Flexural Strength 58 MPa (8,412 psi) 88 MPa (12,763 psi) ASTM D790
Heat Deflection Temp 58°C (136°F) @ 0.45 MPa ASTM D648
Hardness 84 Shore D ASTM D2240

Clear Resin

Translucent to optically clear (with post-polishing). Same base mechanical properties as standard resins. Best for light pipes, fluidic devices, and any application requiring transparency.

Property Green Post-Cured Test Method
Ultimate Tensile Strength 46 MPa (6,672 psi) 60 MPa (8,702 psi) ASTM D638
Tensile Modulus 2,200 MPa (319 ksi) 2,750 MPa (399 ksi) ASTM D638
Elongation at Break 13% 8% ASTM D638
Flexural Strength 58 MPa (8,412 psi) 86 MPa (12,473 psi) ASTM D790
Light Transmission Translucent as-printed; near-optical with sanding + clear coat

Rigid Resin (Glass-Filled)

Extremely stiff and strong. Glass-filled for maximum rigidity. Ideal for jigs, fixtures, tooling, and any application where stiffness is critical. Not suitable for parts that need to flex.

Property Post-Cured Test Method
Ultimate Tensile Strength 72 MPa (10,440 psi) ASTM D638
Tensile Modulus 4,100 MPa (595 ksi) ASTM D638
Elongation at Break 5% ASTM D638
Flexural Modulus 3,700 MPa (537 ksi) ASTM D790
Heat Deflection Temp 82°C (180°F) @ 0.45 MPa ASTM D648
Hardness 86 Shore D ASTM D2240

Specialty Resins (Available on Request)

Tough 1000 Resin (HDPE-Like)

High impact resistance, excellent fatigue life, and good ductility. Simulates HDPE behavior — bends and flexes without snapping. Ideal for snap fits, living hinges, and parts that take repeated impact.

Property Post-Cured Test Method
Ultimate Tensile Strength 34 MPa (4,930 psi) ASTM D638
Tensile Modulus 1,500 MPa (218 ksi) ASTM D638
Elongation at Break 45% ASTM D638
Impact Strength (Notched Izod) 58 J/m (1.09 ft·lbf/in) ASTM D256
Heat Deflection Temp 42°C (108°F) @ 0.45 MPa ASTM D648
Comparable To HDPE, Polypropylene

Tough 2000 Resin (ABS-Like)

High strength with moderate flexibility. The closest SLA resin to injection-molded ABS. Good for functional prototypes, enclosures, and end-use parts requiring a balance of stiffness and toughness.

Property Post-Cured Test Method
Ultimate Tensile Strength 46 MPa (6,672 psi) ASTM D638
Tensile Modulus 2,200 MPa (319 ksi) ASTM D638
Elongation at Break 35% ASTM D638
Impact Strength (Notched Izod) 38 J/m (0.71 ft·lbf/in) ASTM D256
Heat Deflection Temp 52°C (126°F) @ 0.45 MPa ASTM D648
Comparable To ABS
