Product Development & Engineering Design Services

From idea to manufactured product — with an engineer, not just a designer.
PartSnap is a licensed Professional Engineering firm with in-house 3D printing, CAD design, and prototyping. We don’t just draw your part — we engineer it for the manufacturing process it needs to survive. That means fewer revisions, lower tooling costs, and parts that work the first time.
Whether you’re starting from a napkin sketch, a broken part with no drawings, or a working prototype that needs production optimization — we’ve done it before.
What We Do
Mechanical Engineering & Design
SolidWorks-based parametric modeling, structural analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and production drawings. Every design considers how the part will actually be made — Design for Manufacturing (DFM) isn’t an afterthought, it’s where we start.
Prototyping & Validation
In-house 3D printing (FDM and SLA) means functional prototypes in 24–48 hours. Test fit, form, and function before committing to tooling. We also coordinate urethane casting for short-run production-grade parts and bridge production while hard tooling is built.
Manufacturing Process Selection
Choosing the right manufacturing process is one of the highest-leverage decisions in product development. Injection molding, die casting, sand casting, CNC machining, sheet metal, aluminum extrusion, compression molding — we design for the process from day one, not after the quote comes back too high.
Production Transition & Sourcing
We manage the jump from prototype to production: tooling procurement, vendor qualification, first article inspection, and ongoing production support. Our network includes domestic CNC shops, injection molders, metal fabricators, and casting houses. We’ve managed production runs from 50 to 50,000+ pieces.
Reverse Engineering & 3D Scanning
Have a legacy part with no drawings? We 3D scan it, build a parametric CAD model, and deliver production-ready documentation — or print a replacement directly.
Industries We’ve Worked In
- Construction & post-tensioning — tooling, fixtures, and field equipment for the structural concrete industry
- Veterinary orthopedic surgery — CT-to-3D-print bone models for surgical planning
- Fitness & wellness equipment — custom Pilates reformers, exercise equipment design and manufacturing
- Consumer products — pet accessories, outdoor gear, household products
- Industrial & OEM — replacement parts, custom fixtures, production tooling
- Oil & gas — downhole tools, adapter designs, field equipment
How We Work
Project-Based
Fixed-price scope for well-defined projects. Best when you know what you need and want a firm number.
Hourly
Flexible engagement for evolving projects, design exploration, or consulting. You direct the hours.
Retainer
Ongoing engineering support at a discounted rate. Best for companies that need regular design and prototyping work without hiring a full-time engineer. Retainer clients get priority scheduling and discounted 3D printing.
Why PartSnap?
- Licensed P.E. firm — not a CAD jockey with a laptop. Real engineering accountability.
- In-house prototyping — design changes go from screen to physical part the same day.
- Manufacturing fluency — we speak the language of machine shops, molders, and fabricators because we’ve managed production on both sides.
- DFW-based, nationwide clients — local enough to visit your shop, experienced enough to manage remote production.
