Professional CAD Design — Not Just Modeling, Engineering.
There’s a difference between someone who can draw a part in CAD and someone who can design a part that survives manufacturing. At PartSnap, your CAD work is done by mechanical engineers who understand tolerances, material behavior, and the realities of production.
Every model we build is designed for the manufacturing process it’s heading toward — whether that’s 3D printing, injection molding, CNC machining, or sheet metal fabrication.
What We Do
Parametric 3D Modeling (SolidWorks)
All product development work is done in SolidWorks with fully parametric feature trees. That means your model isn’t just a shape — it’s a design intent. Dimensions are driven by relationships, features are ordered logically, and changes propagate cleanly.
This matters when (not if) the design changes. A parametric model adapts. A “dumb solid” requires a rebuild.
Production Drawing Packages
When your part goes to a machine shop, molder, or fabricator, they need drawings — not just a 3D file. We produce fully toleranced production drawings per ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards, including:
- Critical dimensions with appropriate tolerances
- Surface finish callouts
- Material specifications
- Section views and detail views for complex geometry
- Assembly drawings with bill of materials
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Review
Before a design goes to production, we review it against the constraints of the target manufacturing process. This catches problems before they become expensive:
- Injection molding: Draft angles, uniform wall thickness, gate location, undercut analysis
- CNC machining: Tool access, setup reduction, tolerance achievability
- Sheet metal: Bend radii, flat pattern development, hole-to-edge spacing
- 3D printing: Orientation, support strategy, feature size limits
CAD Conversion & File Translation
Working with files from another CAD system? We handle translations between SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, Creo, STEP, IGES, Parasolid, and STL. SpaceClaim is our go-to for repairing damaged geometry and converting organic file types.
Reverse Engineering
Have a physical part with no drawings? We 3D scan it and build a fully parametric SolidWorks model — not just a dumb mesh, but an editable feature tree you can modify and manufacture from.
Our CAD Tools
- SolidWorks — Primary platform for mechanical engineering design, parametric modeling, simulation, and production drawings
- SpaceClaim — Conceptual modeling, geometry repair, and CAD translation. Especially useful for cleaning up imported files
- Rhino — Freeform surface modeling, conceptual design, and rendering
How We Work
By the Hour
Best for ongoing design support, design exploration, or projects where scope evolves.
Fixed Price
Best for well-defined deliverables — “I need a production drawing package for this assembly.”
As Part of Product Development
CAD is rarely the whole project. Most clients engage us for full product development — design, prototype, test, and transition to manufacturing. CAD is simply the tool we use to get there.
Ready to Start?
Send us what you have — a sketch, a broken part, an existing CAD file, or just a description. We’ll figure out the best path forward.
