3D Printing for Oil & Gas: Custom Parts, Prototypes, and Field Solutions

By Mike Moussa, PE — We’re based in Wichita Falls, Texas, in the heart of oil country. We’ve built custom parts for drilling operations, production facilities, and oilfield service companies. Here’s what 3D printing and rapid manufacturing can do for oil & gas.

Common Oil & Gas Applications

Custom Tool Adapters and Fittings

When you need a non-standard adapter between two pieces of equipment, waiting 6 weeks for a machine shop isn’t an option. We 3D print adapters in Nylon, ULTEM, or machine them from metal — delivered in days, not weeks.

Replacement Parts for Legacy Equipment

Aging rigs and production equipment often need parts that are no longer manufactured. We reverse engineer from the existing part or drawings and manufacture replacements using 3D printing, CNC machining, or urethane casting.

Prototype Downhole Tools

Testing a new tool design? 3D printing lets you iterate on the geometry before committing to expensive machined prototypes. Print in high-strength materials like carbon-fiber Nylon or ULTEM for functional testing.

Safety Equipment and Guards

Custom safety guards, valve lockouts, and equipment covers designed to fit your specific equipment. 3D printed in UV-stable ASA or machined from UHMW for outdoor durability.

Flow Visualization Models

Clear SLA prints of valve bodies, manifolds, and flow paths for training, presentations, or flow analysis. See inside the equipment without cutting it apart.

Materials That Survive the Field

  • ULTEM (PEI) — Flame retardant, chemical resistant, handles 350°F+. FST rated for H2S environments.
  • Nylon 12 (SLS) — Tough, chemical resistant, handles moderate temperatures. Great for functional parts.
  • Carbon-Fiber Nylon — Stiff, strong, lightweight. Excellent for brackets and structural components.
  • 316 Stainless Steel (CNC) — When you need metal. Corrosion resistant for sour gas environments.
  • Inconel / Hastelloy (CNC) — Extreme environments, high temperature, high corrosion.

Why Local Matters

We’re in Wichita Falls — not California or New York. We understand oilfield equipment, we speak the language, and we can deliver parts to the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford, or Barnett Shale within hours, not days.

When a rig is down, every hour costs money. We offer rush service — parts delivered in 24 hours when needed.
