By Mike Moussa, PE — Army veteran (Infantry, Kosovo and Iraq). We understand the military and law enforcement environment because we’ve lived it. Here’s how additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping serve defense applications.
Defense and Law Enforcement Applications
Weapon Accessories and Mounting Solutions
Custom Picatinny rail adapters, optic mounts, weapon light brackets, and magazine well adapters. Designed for specific weapon platforms and accessories. Prototyped in Nylon or carbon-fiber Nylon for functional testing, production in aluminum or steel via CNC machining.
Tactical Equipment Prototyping
New product concepts for body armor components, helmet accessories, communications gear mounts, and load-bearing equipment. 3D printing lets you test form, fit, and function in the field before investing in production tooling.
Vehicle and Equipment Mounts
Custom mounts for radios, GPS units, cameras, antennas, and tactical displays in military and law enforcement vehicles. Designed to fit specific vehicle interiors and equipment combinations. Printed in vibration-resistant materials or machined from aluminum.
Replacement Parts for Legacy Equipment
Military and law enforcement agencies operate equipment long past its intended service life. When OEM parts are unavailable, we reverse engineer and manufacture replacements — from knobs and handles to complex mechanical components.
Training Aids and Simulations
Inert training weapons, simulated IED components (for EOD training), building mockup components, and scenario props. 3D printed in weighted materials to simulate the real thing without the danger.
Drone Components
Custom payload brackets, camera mounts, landing gear, and airframe components for UAS platforms. Lightweight carbon-fiber Nylon or polycarbonate for flight-worthy parts.
Materials for Defense Applications
- Carbon-Fiber Nylon — High strength-to-weight ratio. Excellent for mounting brackets, structural components, and field equipment.
- Glass-Filled Nylon — Stiff, dimensionally stable, handles moderate impacts. Good for equipment housings.
- ULTEM 9085 — Flame retardant, chemical resistant. Suitable for vehicle interiors and confined space applications.
- Polycarbonate — Impact resistant, transparent options. Excellent for protective covers and viewports.
- 7075-T6 Aluminum (CNC) — Mil-spec aluminum for production mounting solutions and weapon accessories.
- 4140 / 4340 Steel (CNC) — When you need steel strength. Heat treated for weapon components and high-stress applications.
- Titanium Grade 5 (CNC) — Lightweight, corrosion-proof, strong. Premium option for weight-critical applications.
Firearms-Specific Capabilities
We understand firearms design and the regulatory environment:
- Accessory prototyping — muzzle devices, handguards, grips, stock adapters, magazine components
- Fit and function testing — prototypes designed to test on live weapons (non-firing components only for 3D printed parts)
- Production transition — we design with CNC machining or injection molding in mind, so your prototype design translates directly to production
- We do NOT manufacture receivers, frames, or serialized components — we focus on accessories and non-regulated parts
ITAR Awareness
We understand ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements. Defense-related projects involving controlled items are handled with appropriate security protocols. We can discuss specifics on a project-by-project basis.
Why Work with a Veteran-Owned Shop
We’ve carried the equipment, used the gear, and dealt with the frustration of field-expedient solutions. When you describe a problem — “the radio mount doesn’t fit the new vehicle” or “the optic adapter wobbles under recoil” — we understand the context. We don’t need a PowerPoint presentation to get it.
Get Started
Describe your project — even just the problem you’re trying to solve — and we’ll propose a solution. NDA signed before any technical discussion. Veteran-to-veteran: no corporate BS, just solutions.
